Day 3, blah!

 OUCH.
didn’t even open my eyes and I felt like I got hit by a bus. I think we are passed sore now, I just have to keep telling myself this will be worth it! It took all the effort in the world to get out of bed but I had to because this was a little different than my usual morning routine. Before you get excited, no I didn’t change my breakfast, same lemon water, cereal, milk and tea as always. But I had a doctor’s appointment before work so there was a lot of running around and speed walking to be on time to my appointment and catch the bus to be on time at work-which i wasn't! oops. I’m very well aware that I look funny doing my “sore muscles walk” but oh well haha. By the time I got to work, I was already hungry. My breakfast usually lasts me till 10:30 or 11am. Today I was hungry at 9am, I drank some water to calm my stomach down but I couldn’t ignore it anymore by 10:15 I had my snack. I had 2 cups of red grapes. I’ve had this for snack before but for some reason it was not enough to hold me till my usual lunch time.

I felt hungry by 12:30 but I had to suck it up until 1:45 when I was just starving so I got my lunch ready. I had the Smart Ones “Mini Rigatoni with Vodka Cream Sauce” which was SO good! I will definitely be getting more of that, I liked it a whole lot better than the lean cuisine meal I had Monday. I also had an apple because I wasn't completely full. This help me up till around 5pm but I didn't get home till 6pm when I had my snack, a vanilla yogurt and cup of honey nut Cherrios. After that, the day kind of went downhill and I wish the day would have ended at 6pm. I was so busy and so much happened I was ready for bed early but I forced myself to get to the basement to do something. I only did the Instagram workout I'm trying to keep up with for the next two weeks and the following arm workout I got off of pinterest.
I did three sets of 12 repetitions each. I used 5lbs weights because it was all I had at home but it didn't feel like enough and the last time I did this workout I started with 10lbs and then moved up to 12lbs and that felt like a real workout.
For dinner there wasn't much to choose from which is a big mistake, I should have known better and have healthy food ready to eat. I had to just pick from what was in the fridge, which was not very healthy.
I had 5 chicken breast tenders, 8 olives and some... uh... ehh french fries. I know, I know, embarrassing. Not that its a good excuse but it was such a hectic day...
Anyways today I drank 83oz of water. And I'm completely happy this day is over and I'm going to bed now, sorry this is a bit dry but I'll try my best to make tomorrow better.

Short term goal: keep healthy good in the refrigerator for busy days!

Day 2, I'm soree!

I’m going to spare you the boring details, and skip through this part and say I woke up had my lemon water, same cereal with same amount of milk, same black tea and same amount of sugar. My morning is more of a routine while sleep walking, I don’t even think about it!
At work I had my snack around 11am, baked cheese crackers, they are the store version of gold fish. I drank half my water bottle and it filled me up enough to hold me till lunch. I guess it wasn't bad, definitely better than the watermelon from yesterday!!
For lunch I made me a wrap, it was a spinach tortilla with 2 slices of ham, some lettuce, 3 thin slices of tomato, 1 hard boiled egg, green and black olives and some cherry tomatoes and baby carrots on the side. It was tasty and it completely filled me up!! By this time my muscles already started to feel sore, it was really bad by the time I got home. My afternoon snack today was one green apple….I like apples, not much to say about that haha.
Anyways today is my daddy’s birthday and I didn’t want to work out much so I could spend some time with him, plus I was feeling super lazy since my muscles were so sore. It took some effort to make it to the basement but I did it, 45 minutes in the bike and the same Instagram workout I posted yesterday. I’ll try to keep up with it every day for 2 weeks to see if it is true you “Drop 10 in 2 weeks”.
After my shower I had one of my favorite summer meals, my mom makes this “put as much as you can in there” salad. I’m not completely sure this is healthy but since it’s a salad, I count it as healthy. My salad had lettuce, tomato, corn, cooked ham, chicken breast, cheese, green and black olives, croutons, egg, salt, oregano and olive oil. This always fills me up and like I said its one of my faves.

Again the only thing I drank all day was water, I had about 96oz of water and many trips to the bathroom!
Now as I sit and relax before bed my muscles are crying but I feel very proud of myself for actually doing it right today, no cheats! I also feel sore, but I think I already mention that!
Here's hoping tomorrow is another good day, I can already tell its going to be a tough weekend with my dad's birthday party and all the glorious food, but its only Tuesday, so far so good...

Day 1... I'm weak!!!

My day started like normal, drinking 12oz of water, and half a lemon squeezed in there. I started drinking this on an empty stomach a long time ago, my mom told me it helps aid digestion. If you look it up that's not all it does, it also helps clear skin, balances pH levels and lots more. After that I had my usual breakfast, through this blogs you'll see I'm not very creative when it comes to breakfast, I have the same thing over and over and I don't get tired easily. Lately I've been having the same thing as today
1 ½ cups of special k strawberry cereal with ½ cup of 2% milk, and  a cup of black tea sweetened with half a teaspoon of sugar. It's quick and it fills me up.
I left to work and up until today, running for the bus has been my only workout.
At 11:20 I had 2 cups of diced watermelon. Tasty snack for a few calories, but I'm not going to lie, I chugged half my water bottle hoping it would fill me up because that was not enough.
Finally 2pm came around and I was able to step away from my desk to have some lunch. I decided to try the lean cuisine boxed meals, today I had the "chicken fettuccini”. It was delicious and for a pasta lover like myself, I'm glad I'm not giving up my favorite foods while trying to get in shape. However, it was a small portion. I think next time I'll go for a healthier choice and a bigger portion. Anyways this is the part I have to confess….I did do a little bit of cheating, but I have a good excuse!! My co-worker and I have a junk food drawer and now that we're both trying to eat healthy we need to empty it in order to turn it into our healthy snacks drawer, so I HAD to have some salt and vinegar chips. It wasn’t my fault!!
I'm not sure exactly how much it was but I'm ashamed and I promise to try harder! this blogging thing is really going to keep me in check, I feel so dumb admitting I failed on the first day! Haha
Anyways I got home from work and had a little snack, ½ cup of honey nut Cherrios and a low fat probiotic yogurt.
Now this is the part I make my way to the basement and pop in the Insanity DVD, I had these from last year when I tried to do it but quit after a month. Doing this workout was a last minute decision so I push play super excited and remember Day 1 is the Fit Test, it consists of doing as many repetitions as you can of the exercise shown, you count and write it down, in 2 weeks when you do the fit test again you are supposed to have gotten better. Well, as soon as the video started I remembered why I had quit originally. Insanity is…. Well, insane. I’m sure it works for many, it is just not my idea of a good workout. It does a lot of jumping which I can’t do super high impact because of the bad circulation on my legs, and I don’t get motivated by a man screaming at me from the TV to “Dig deeper”
So I finished the fit test but I’m completely over it and I don’t expect to keep up with it. Since that was only 30 minutes, I jumped in the exercise bike my mom has in the basement and I did 45 minutes there. I had never tried it bore but it was a good workout, except the seat was too high for me even in the lowest setting so by the end of my workout my butt was feeling sore! Short people problems. I followed that with the workout posted below, I found that on Instagram last week and I decided to give it a try.
Finally I had “dinner”, not really. I just ate things here and there as I prepared my lunch for tomorrow. I had 8 green olives, 8 black olives, 3oz baby carrots and one hard boiled egg.
Throughout the day I only drank water, approximately 100oz or 2.56 liters.
Overall it was not bad, I didn’t starve and the food was tasty. Other than my moment of weakness with the chips, I did good and I’m proud of myself for actually doing a good workout... Not so proud of the cheating.

Thought of the day, eating the proper serving size is hard when serving sizes are so small!!

Day Zero... Here we GO!!!

I’ve always been very active, I used to play outside and run around with my siblings and cousins when I was little, in high school I played sports and in college I ran around so much I was always active! But when I was thrown into the adult world of 9 to 5, sitting in an office for 8hrs started to take a toll on me.
I started to notice clothes fitting tighter and my gut sticking out way more than I wanted it to. The turning point, however, was when I was sitting with my sister wearing my favorite pair of jean shorts and I saw a ridiculous amount of stretch marks on my thighs!!! I realize it may seem a bit dramatic, we all have stretchmarks, but really this is absurd, there is no reason for me to look like this! That is when I decided I needed to do something about my weight, I've decided to eat healthier and be  more active.
I’m starting Monday July 22, 2013 and I will take you through this journey with me for two reasons.
1. I think it will be helpful to share what I am eating and doing in order to maybe help others or if you are better at this than me you can give me recommendations of what I can do.
2. is because I think that if I write it down, it will keep me more on track, I know myself and I will be really motivated for 2 days and then go back to being lazy. So this will hopefully keep me in check and I’ll reach my goal.
Picture taken from Google Images
Speaking of goal, my goal is not a specific number, I’m actually not going to weigh myself at all throughout this whole thing, I’m going by how I look and feel. My goal is to be happy and comfortable in my skin. So that’s that.
Now this is the part where I include a disclaimer, I’m not a professional and everything I’m about to do is an experiment and a process of trial and error so hopefully this works!
I've never really dieted before and, while I will try, I've never counted calories before so I'll try it for as long as I can but like I said this is an experiment and if you know of a better way then let me know.
I did take a “before” picture that I’m not completely ready to share on the internet but hopefully soon when there is an "after" picture next to it I'll feel better about posting it!
so, here we go…..
xoxo
